Gary Clark - General Manager
Gary is the General Manager for Huxley Communications. His job is critical to the operation of the cooperative. Ultimately he is responsible for providing financial & general leadership for Huxley Communications to grow in a profitable and sustainable manner. His favorite part of working with the Huxley Communications team is that we all know we are all available to all of our customers.
Terry Ferguson - Director of Operations
Terry has the answers to everything. He specializes in all things related to telephony including fiber management, networking, twisted pair copper, head-end management, and employee management. He monitors an extensive fiber driven network covering 5 towns and maintains a cable head-end that delivers high-definition digital cable and cutting edge programming. In 2002, Terry played a big part in one of the first ever fiber-to-the-home deployments in the state of Iowa with Huxley Communications.
Ted Powell - Central Office / Network Administrator
Ted is the central office & network administrator for Huxley Communications. He has over 30 years of telecommunications experience and his responsibilities are essential to Huxley Communications providing phone and internet service to its members. Ted began working for what was then called "Huxley Cooperative Telephone Company" part-time in 1972, when the company had 3 employees, only served one town, and had less than 500 phone lines. Now the company has grown to serve 5 towns, over 4000 phone lines equipped, and provides cable TV and internet service. Ted’s primary responsibilities include: Central Office - switching, internet and transmission systems-engineering, installation, provisioning, administration, and maintenance. "It's both exciting and challenging to be just a small part of this revolutionary time in the history of communications” remarks Ted. “I've always been proud to be an employee of Huxley Communications Cooperative which is a small town subscriber owned business."
Brant Strumpfer - Plant Manager
Brant supervises the day-to-day tasks of all the combination technicians. Brant started his telecommunications' career working for TCI of Ames before coming to work for Huxley Communications in 1998. Before serving as plant manager, Brant worked as a combination tech helping out with anything from locating buried plant to installation of new services. His primary responsibilties now include directing new fiber optic installation projects and overseeing new installations and maintenance of existing plant and materials. Brant is a great addition to the cooperative and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his field.
Matt Spurgeon - Combination Technician
Matt is our senior combination technician. He has worked for the cooperative for over 6 years and specializes in the installation and maintenance of broadband DSL and Fiber-to-the-Home high speed internet services. Before beginning his career at Huxley Communications he worked at TCI of Ames installing Cable and AT&T broadband services. It is quite possible you have welcomed Matt into your home or business to install or troubleshoot your services. The dedication he brings to his job daily shows in his committment to serve our member owners.
Lance Baker - Combination Technician
Lance is our southern born combination technician who along with a warm Tennessee accent brings over 10 years of telecommunications experience. Lance Baker is originally from Harriman, Tennessee. After graduating in 1998 he went to work for Qwest communications in Des Moines. He joined the Huxley Communications team in September of 2004 and is happy to work for a smaller telephone cooperative. “I really enjoy the small town atmosphere. Being from a small town in Tennessee, it is nice to finally get back to the roots that I grew up with. People care about the well being of this company and the community in general and that’s what makes me proud to be a part of this team.” Lance is a combination technician with a specialization in servicing and troubleshooting telephone plant and equipment. In his free time Lance enjoys the outdoors and working on projects around the house.
Ryan Terrones - Combination Technician
Ryan Terrones is the most energetic combination technician at Huxley Communications. He brings a vigorous attitude and commitment that serves the cooperative well. Ryan was born and raised in Huxley where his family still resides today. Ryan graduated from Ballard High School in 1998. After High School he attended Colorado Aerotech to become an avionics technician. After further consideration Ryan realized that wasn’t his interest. Ryan came to Huxley Communications in September of 2004 from Mediacom and is now responsible for CATV installs and troubleshooting. When asked what he enjoys most about his job he replied “Growing up in Huxley I have seen the positive changes in the community. Even though the community is growing, it still has the small town “flavor” to it.” Off the clock Ryan is involved in basketball and softball leagues and is an aspiring rock star.
Kenton Anderson - Combination Technician
Kenton worked at Alpine Communications in Elkader, Iowa from 2005-mid 2007 before moving to Des Moines to work for Paetec from 2007 until coming to Huxley Communications during the summer of 2010. Kenton attended DMACC in Ankeny and in 2005 received his AAS degree in Telecommunications. His hobbies are hunting, fishing, and riding atv’s. "I like working for Huxley Communications because of the small town atmosphere. I grew up in a small town, so I have always liked the small town personality and charm much better than cities like Des Moines. The staff is awesome, everyone is easy going and no problem to get along with."
Connie Patrick - Business Office Manager
Connie Patrick is the customer care supervisor and handles a multitude of daily tasks including accounting, customer service, marketing, and planning company events. She also heads up the wellness committee and is highly trained in service provisioning and database maintenance. She started with the cooperative in 2002 while working part-time and has worked her way up to supervising an energetic customer care team of 5. "The best part about my job is all the wonderful people I get to work with," says Connie. In her free time she is involved in several different community committees and enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
Linda Grady - Customer Care Specialist
Linda is the longest running customer care representative. She vividly remembers when she started working for Huxley Communications during the floods of 1993. "I stopped into pay my bill and an employee at the time asked me if I was ready to go back to work? I had an interview with Bill the next day and everything else is history!" says Linda excitingly. Linda's responsibilities include working directly with customers on service and billing issues and brings an enthusiastic attitude to the front office. Have a question? Linda knows the answer!
Mike Leeds - Sales & Marketing Specialist
I am thrilled to be working at Huxley Communications. It is a wonderful company in a vibrant community,"says Mike. His primary responsibilities include marketing our products and services and working with business customers. He also is responsible for public relations and working with various functions throughout the community.
Micki Conn - Customer Care Specialist
By far the most interesting employee of Huxley Communcations, Micki has a story for everything. She has seen things and gone places that would make any novel seem dull. Her life story shines in her attitude at work. Always willing to help a customer or another employee and always makes sure there is a fresh pot of coffee ready to go. Her formal duties include accounts payable, internet escalations, port authorizations, coffee specialist and comic relief. No previous experience can fully prepare someone who is freshly entering into the telephony industry, but Micki's previous accounting and customer service experience has made her a valuable asset to our team.
Tiffany Kuiper - Customer Care Specialist
Tiffany is our main front end customer service representative. She is eager to help customers with their issues over the phone or in person. Ask Tiffany any of your questions regarding your services or your bill. Tiffany began working for Huxley Communications in 2007 and previously worked in the banking industry. "I love being able to work with a great group of people everyday and always learning something new," says Tiffany.
