Huxley Communications has a history of staying abreast of the technology industry. In 2000, they were the first in Iowa to launch fiber-to-the-home fiber optics in areas of Huxley and have since then used this technology to provide service to Slater and Cambridge. In 2005 the cooperative expanded its service availability to the Elkhart and White Oak areas through fiber-to-the-home fiber optics equipment. “We are excited about providing our services to Elkhart and White Oak. Some of our services, like high speed internet, are now available in areas that didn’t have access to them before.” says Terry Ferguson, Director of Operations It doesn’t stop there. Currently, the cooperative is considering high-definition television and voice over internet protocol (VoIP) which will provide phone service using an internet connection. “We work hard to stay informed about the latest technologies – a difficult task when our industry changes so quickly.” says Bill Hotchkiss, General Manager. Hotchkiss continues, “We are aggressively researching the possibility of upgrading our cable equipment to deliver high-definition, digital video recording, and video on-demand services to digital customers in 2007.”
